VF Corporation has hired Brent Hyder as its chief people officer, the company announced Tuesday.
Hyder will step into the role on Sept. 5 and report to Bracken Darrell, VF’s president and CEO.
In the new role, Hyder will be responsible for all aspects of human resources globally and “drive strategies to optimize employee and business success,” per the release. He will also lead VF’s talent acquisition and management programs to develop and retain VF’s employee base, which totals more than 30,000 worldwide.
Hyder spent nearly four years as chief people officer at Salesforce, a company that provides customer relationship management software. While there, Salesforce earned spots on best workplace lists, including Great Place to Work, Fortune, People, Glassdoor and LinkedIn, according to VF’s release.
Hyder also has experience in the apparel and retail space. He spent 15 years at Gap Inc., where he last served as chief human resources officer, responsible for HR, sustainability, communications, security and the Gap Inc. Foundation. He was also global chief operating officer for the Gap brand and led Gap Japan as its representative director and general manager.
Hyder succeeds Anita Graham, who was VF’s chief human resources officer and public affairs until January. Graham now holds the chief human resources officer role at Labcorp, per her LinkedIn.
"[Hyder’s] proven success in building top-rated employee experiences and high-performance inclusive cultures, combined with his strong global retail management experience, make Brent the ideal people leader for VF,” Darrell said in the release. “Brent shares a deep respect for VF’s incredible brands and a strong desire to build a workplace that attracts, develops, and retains the very best and most diverse talent in service to our consumers."
Darrell is also new to his role, starting in July. VF has undergone several leadership shake ups recently, and it’s seen recent revenue decreases in some of its key brands, including Vans and Dickies.
In April, VF named Todd Falhausser the new global brand president of Dickies; Jen McLaren the brand president of Altra; and Jan Van Mossevelde the president of Icebreaker.
VF’s portfolio also includes The North Face, Timberland and Supreme.
