Dive Insight:
Dunne is the latest new leadership hire as StockX overhauls its executive team.
In June, the company named Daniel De Jesus Krueger as its vice president and head of creative. At the beginning of the year, Greg Schwartz, co-founder and chief operating officer for the company, became CEO. Schwartz has been with the company since its launch in 2016.
As StockX evolves, Schwartz said the company is focusing on putting customers “at the center of everything we do.”
“With this role, we’re doubling down on our approach to community and customer engagement, and Brendan is the ideal person to drive that effort,” Schwartz said in the release.
During his time at Complex, Dunne hosted the “Complex Sneakers Podcast,” in addition to the “Full Size Run” podcast, both of which focused on sneaker culture. He has also worked on campaigns featuring Foot Locker, Adidas and Reebok, per the release.
Katy Cockrel, StockX’s vice president and head of global communications, said in the release that Dunne’s perspective will help the company “connect more authentically and intentionally” to its consumer base.
Dunne will be based in New York but will regularly travel to StockX’s headquarters in Detroit, per the release.
In addition to sneakers, StockX also serves as a resale platform for apparel and collectibles. The company has made its verification process a key point in its marketing efforts, and recently released its annual verification report, which included an overview of counterfeit trends in the resale market.
The company also releases quarterly trend reports accounting the most popular brands at resale.
Correction: This story has been corrected to clarify Dunne’s role in StockX’s editorial strategy.
