Mulberry Group has appointed Andrea Baldo CEO, according to a Tuesday press release. He will take on the role and join the company’s board on Sept. 1.
Baldo replaces Thierry Andretta, who has left the company and the board, per the release. Andretta has been with Mulberry since 2015.
Prior to joining the U.K.-based luxury fashion brand, Baldo was CEO and executive director of luxury fashion and lifestyle brand Ganni, where he oversaw the brand’s international growth by focusing on retail and product development and helped hone “the brand identity to increase customer engagement,” per the release.
“I am thrilled to join Mulberry at such a pivotal moment and to build upon the strong sustainability credentials of this iconic luxury brand,” Baldo said in the release. “I look forward to leading the business and its talented team into the next chapter.”
Before joining Ganni, Baldo was CEO and board director at affordable luxury handbag brand Coccinelle. Prior to that, he held executive positions at OTB-owned brands Marni, Diesel and Maison Martin Margiela, per his LinkedIn page.
“Following our search process, it was clear that Andrea’s international fashion brand expertise, creativity and strategic thinking meant he was absolutely the right person for this role,” Chris Roberts, chairman of Mulberry, said in the release. “I’d also like to thank Thierry for his contribution to the business."
The executive change follows Mulberry’s May trading update, which stated that group revenue for fiscal 2024 declined 4%. At the time, Andretta said in a statement that the company’s positive revenue growth in the first half of fiscal 2024 did not make it “immune to the broader downturn in luxury spending experienced in recent months, particularly in the UK and Asia.”
