Dive Brief:
- Barcelona-based fashion retail group Mango has partnered with Circulose, the textile-to-textile fiber company formerly known as Renewcell, to integrate material made from recycled textiles into its supply chain, according to a press release last week.
- Mango is the first brand to commit to Circulose since the textile company relaunched from bankruptcy last year. Mango said the deal will help it reach its objective of using only lower impact fibers by 2030.
- Circulose pulp is made from recycled cotton waste, and Mango said the use of this fiber will allow for transparency and traceability across its supply chain.
Dive Insight:
The addition of Circulose’s material to Mango’s supply chain reflects the company’s commitment to fostering a more responsible fashion ecosystem, Mango Sustainability and Sourcing Director Andrés Fernández said in the release.
Meanwhile, for Circulose, the deal with Mango reflects a larger circular solutions strategy for its brand partners, Circulose CEO Jonatan Janmark said in the release.
On Tuesday, Circulose announced the launch of a new platform, Circulose Forward, which is designed to offer companies practical tools to integrate Circulose materials into their supply chains.
Circulose Forward will include a material library that features the price of its materials, a price calculator and an updated Circulose Supplier network.
“Scaling up next-gen materials is not straightforward,” Janmark said in the Circulose Forward release. “To enable adoption at scale and at pace, we need to make integration into brands’ supply chains seamless. Circulose Forward is a key initiative to make that happen.”
