Fast Retailing-owned GU is producing a second collaboration with London-based fashion label Rokh, according to a press release last week.
The collection features 19 styles in sizes XS to XL, and includes five “minimalist, gender-inclusive designs” labeled as menswear, per the release. Prices range from $3.90 to $59.90, and the new line will be available in GU stores and online beginning Friday.
“Inspired by British gardens, this season’s GU x rokh collection features vibrant floral patterns and heritage patterns accents throughout,” Rok Hwang, founder and designer of Rokh, said in the release. “Each item was created with a focus on materials and designs to be slightly idyllic, perfect for an exciting spring and summer season.”
Hwang added that the looks for the new collection were also designed to focus more on practicality than the original collaboration.
“The collection can be worn in several ways on its own, but we also tried to offer lengths and silhouettes that can be easily mixed and matched, and worn stylishly when combined with the customer’s own wardrobe,” Hwang said.
The men’s pieces are workwear-inspired, and feature adjustable cropped pants, customizable hemlines and double belt loops. Hwang said the men’s items are meant “to be enjoyed in an inherently genderless way.”
Meanwhile, the women’s pieces feature smocking, shirring, ruffles and floral patterns, and include dresses, tops, bottoms and accessories. Both the men’s and women’s collections include a chunky loafer clog.
Since launching e-commerce and opening its New York flagship in the U.S. last year, Uniqlo’s sister brand GU has launched partnerships with both Rokh and Japan-based brand Undercover.
GU was established in 2006, and has about 470 stores in Asia, most of which are in Japan, per the release. The company also has e-commerce platforms in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan.
