Dive Brief:
- Fabletics and Malbon Golf co-creators Stephen and Erica Malbon have launched a limited-edition collaboration called “Stephen and Erica Malbon for Fabletics,” according to a Wednesday press release.
- This 27-piece capsule collection features new silhouettes for Fabletics, including a minidress with built-in shorts and a women’s windbreaker. It also marks the first time the design duo behind Malbon Golf has co-created a new line separate from their namesake golf brand, per the release.
- Pieces are available in women’s sizes XXS to 4X and in men’s sizes XS-XXL, with some men’s styles offered up to 4X. Prices range from $14.95 to $134.95, and the line is available in Fabletics’ retail stores and through the brand’s website.
Dive Insight:
The collaboration, which is designed to blend performance and fashion, offers pieces intended to be worn on and off the golf course.
“At the heart of our brand is the belief that golf should be accessible to everyone and that includes what you have access to wearing on the green that makes you feel and look good while not sacrificing performance,” Stephen and Erica Malbon said in the release. “This is the first time we have teamed up as creative directors, so for us to find the right partners to bring our shared vision to life was key and that’s exactly what we found in Fabletics.”
The women’s collection includes wide-legged pleated pants, dresses, tops, skirts and shorts, while the men’s offering includes pull-on pants and shorts made from Fabletics’ spillproof Don RepelKnit fabric as well as a lightweight crepe button-up shirt and pullover tops.
Throughout the collection, illustrator Brandon Campbell added print details designed to echo traditional golf terrains. Some pieces feature pelicans and sandpipers to denote coastal regions, while other items feature deer or landscapes designed to reflect desert and pine regions. The color palette includes pale blue, cream, seafoam green and pink.
“This partnership with Stephen and Erica Malbon is unlike anything we’ve ever done before,” Don Ressler, Fabletics co-founder, said in the release. “The resulting pieces perfectly embody a sporty, fashion-forward streetwear collection that will excite buyers.”
As golf’s fashion appeal continues to grow, more brands are changing course to keep up with consumer demand.
Earlier this year, Reebok reentered the performance golf category with a new apparel and footwear offering, and Eastside Golf expanded its executive team by hiring its first head of marketing.
Last month, Malbon Golf also partnered with Gap on a 33-piece collection of men’s and women’s basics.
