Apparel brand Eastside Golf has launched its first women’s collection, according to a press release Thursday.
There are more than 20 pieces in the line, including a track suit, crop tee and jumpsuit, as well polos, skirts and dresses with the Eastside name and logo. The clothes are meant to be worn both “on and off the course,” the brand said in the release.
The collection will be released in three different phases throughout May, with the first drop this week, and other drops scheduled for May 16 and May 23. Pieces are available on the brand’s e-commerce site and app, and prices on items already available range from $50 to $130.
"Since our early days, we’ve had women purchasing Eastside Golf items for themselves, and asking us when we’d be entering the women’s category,” Olajuwon Ajanaku, Eastside Golf co-founder and creative director, said in the release. “But we didn't want to ‘shrink and pink’ our existing products; we wanted to create something authentic and considered. This is why we dedicated additional resources to bringing on designers with extensive expertise in women’s apparel to create items that are both fashionable and functional, and equally at home on the street or in the clubhouse.”
The brand, founded in 2019, said the line was meant to meet the needs of golf players of all levels and was created by an all-female design team. Hats in the collection are designed to be comfortable for a variety of hair styles and textures and include a satin lining to protect hair, per the release.
Earl Cooper, co-founder and CEO of Eastside Golf, said the company is a fashion brand rooted in golf, and aims to serve both golfers and nongolfers.
“We are serving women who have, up to this point, not been served by golf apparel brands in the way they deserve — they do not have the clothing options that men do, despite making up a sizeable, and increasing, portion of the golf-playing community,” Cooper said in the release. “We are incredibly proud of the collection and hope to draw in women who are looking for golf clothing that is not just functional but fashionable, and gives them the confidence to be their authentic selves on and off the course.”
Since its founding, Eastside Golf identifies itself as “leveraging fashion to change the cultural perception and conversation around golf.” It has strategic partnerships and licensing deals with the NBA, MLB and Mercedes-Benz USA, according to the release.
Golf has been making its way into mainstream fashion recently, as a more diverse and younger set of people are gaining interest in the sport. The effect has been felt by independent brands, including Eastside Golf and Blackballed Golf, as well as established labels like Nike, Adidas and Under Armour.
