Dive Insight:
Adler got his start in 1993 by selling a collection of ceramics to Barneys New York, a now-defunct department store whose intellectual property is owned by Authentic Brands Group. His brand currently operates 11 retail locations in the U.S. and the U.K, an e-commerce platform and a wholesale business with more than 1,000 points of distribution globally. In addition, his company manages multiple residential and commercial design projects, per the release.
The Jonathan Adler business will maintain its retail operations and expand its brick-and-mortar presence through Consortium’s strategic partnership with American Exchange Group, per the release. There are also plans to expand the company’s wholesale offerings and categories through both current and future international accounts.
“I am truly excited to partner with the Consortium and American Exchange Group teams and build the brand to new heights,” Adler said in the release. “Their fantastic reputations and expertise will enable us to grow globally, entering exciting new categories and broader channels of distribution.”
The acquisition expands Consortium’s home décor offerings and allows the firm to reach customers across multiple lifestyle categories, Jonathan Greller, president and co-founder of Consortium, said in the release.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jonathan Adler to the CBP family,” Greller said. “Jonathan Adler’s exceptional talent and vision have made the brand a beloved leader in home design for decades.”
